ITS in the Slovak Republic
In transport conditions, the Slovak Republic
has a strategic position in the heart of Europe. Its transport
infrastructure must enable not only smooth connection
with European centres (industrial, commercial, residential),
but it must also provide corresponding services.

| Therefore, in order to solve traffic problems
in the Slovak Republic at the national and regional level,
it supports implementation of intelligent transport systems
and services in all transport sectors with the aim of
making the traffic more efficient, more economical and
safer. In practice, this means telematic applications
for traffic intensity monitoring, weather monitoring on
roads, telematic applications for enhancement of safety
in tunnels etc. are gradually implemented. In a part of
the Slovak network of railway tracks, included in TEN,
a remote system of railway traffic control and European
security system are implemented. In road transport in
the Slovak Republic, especially on its motorway network,
there are traffic control and information systems and
a unified system of traffic information available to drivers.
The Slovak Republic participates in Euro-regional programmes
CONNECT, EASYWAY and is actively engaged in European projects
eSafety and Galileo. |
